Following the success of previous professional development sessions, on the afternoon of June 16, 2020, the Faculty of Economics & Construction Management continued to hold a professional development session on the topic: “Regulations on Schedule Adjustments and Delay Penalties in Various International Construction Contract Models (FIDIC, NEC, ENAA, VOB)”.

The event took place from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Tuesday, June 16, 2020, at the Auditorium, 1st Floor – Building G3, National University of Civil Engineering, 55 Giai Phong Street, Hai Ba Trung District, Hanoi.

This professional development session, organized by the Faculty of Economics & Construction Management, was honored to have the participation of two speakers who are experts in the field of construction contracts:

1. Mr. Nguyễn Nam Trung – Head of the Vietnam Society of Construction Law (SCLVN) | Mediator at VICMC | Arbitrator at VIAC | Member of FIDIC BIM TG & TG16 (Currently working at EVNPECC3 & NTT Consulting)

2. Mr. Lê Thế Hùng – Currently working at CNC Vietnam Law Company Limited (CNC Counsel)

During this professional development session, the speakers presented and discussed topics related to schedule adjustments and delay penalties in various international construction contract models (FIDIC, NEC, ENAA, VOB):

• Mr. Lê Thế Hùng presented and discussed the topic “Extension of Time for Completion under the FIDIC 1999 Contract”, covering:

• The basis for granting an extension of time for completion;

• The significance of the completion milestone;

• General procedures for claims (the general timetable for the claims procedure; the importance of issuing a notice for extension of time; explanations supporting claims for extension of time, etc.).

Interspersed with his presentation, the speaker also posed numerous questions and quick practical exercises related to the topic, which received enthusiastic participation from the faculty members and guests attending the event.

The professional development session was successfully held, with strong attendance and enthusiastic participation from faculty members of the Faculty of Economics & Construction Management as well as interested guests from both within and outside the National University of Civil Engineering.
