Field Trip and Practical Training for Class 65KTE – Semester I 2022-2023
Practical field trips are a regular activity specifically organized for English-taught classes and are held once per semester by the Faculty of Economics and Construction Management, Hanoi University of Civil Engineering. The purpose of these trips is to help students gain additional practical knowledge, prepare for studying and researching specialized subjects, and get ready for internships and graduation projects.
On November 1, 2022, the Faculty of Economics and Construction Management organized a field trip to Ecopark Urban Area, located in Văn Lâm, Hưng Yên, for Class 65KTE. The trip was led by Mr. Nguyễn Tuấn Anh (Vice Dean of the Faculty of Economics & Construction Management), Mr. Nguyễn Cao Lãnh (Dean of the Faculty of Architecture & Planning), and Mr. Nguyễn Mạnh Cường (Department of Architectural Technology).
As one of the largest urban development projects in Northern Vietnam, Ecopark Urban Area is designed and developed to balance urban spaces with natural environments, creating a multifunctional city that meets all needs for housing, office, commercial, tourism, and high-end entertainment. Ecopark is located in the southeastern area near Bát Tràng Pottery Village, only 12.8 km from the center of Hanoi.
During the trip, students were divided into small groups to explore specific areas of Ecopark. They were introduced to the project and learned about topics related to their field, including:
Organizational structure of the investment and construction management board of the urban project; market analysis and real estate products within the urban area;
Roles of different units involved in an urban construction investment project;
Quality, cost, and schedule management processes during project implementation;
Construction methods for common tasks in modern construction projects;
Roles of Construction Economics Engineers/Civil Engineers within the investor unit and the project management board.
At the end of the field trip, students prepared group presentations entirely in English to present their findings to a panel of instructors. They received professional feedback to improve their presentation skills, teamwork, English proficiency, and to further consolidate their specialized knowledge.
