A GENUINELY HONEST AND HEARTFELT REVIEW FROM MR. NGUYEN THE ANH – AN OUTSTANDING ALUMNUS OF CLASS K43 WHO HAS GROWN AND SUCCEEDED UNDER THE ROOF OF THE FACULTY OF CONSTRUCTION ECONOMICS AND MANAGEMENT.

When I entered Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, I chose the Faculty of Construction Economics and Management (CEM) quite by chance. I was a student of Class K43 (1998–2003). Now, after 22 years of graduation and working in the field, if I could choose again, I would still choose the Faculty of Construction Economics and Management. This place has given me everything I have today, proving one thing: “Love your profession – and it will love you back.”

Studying Construction Economics and Management provided me with a wealth of knowledge and experiences. The great thing is that the faculty always equips students with economic thinking combined with technical and managerial knowledge. Those who study seriously will excel in economics, be good at organizing construction works, handle projects both in the public sector and privately, manage effectively, think quickly, be versatile, dynamic, and possess strong survival skills.

Results: After more than 20 years since graduation, our class 43KT1 has proudly looked back and realized that nearly 100% of us have achieved great success in our careers — being respected at work, having stable financial conditions, good positions, and abundant job opportunities. (Not a full 100% only because a few classmates have had health issues.)

Studying Construction Economics and Management opens up a wide range of career options — it’s a truly versatile field, not just about quantity surveying, cost estimation, or on-site construction as many people mistakenly think.

A living example proving that the Construction Economics profession offers one of the longest and most sustainable career paths is Professor, Doctor of Science Nguyễn Mậu Bành, former Head of the Faculty of Construction Economics. Now nearly 90 years old, he still chairs scientific councils and supervises Master’s and Doctoral defenses with remarkable energy.

P/s: As you can see, professional athletes may earn money fast, but by their 30s, they often slow down and retire. In contrast, Construction Economists may start slower, but their careers are long-lasting — even at 90, they can still work, stay healthy, and earn steadily. In the long run, their total “sigma” of success is far greater!
