A reality at Hanoi University of Civil Engineering (HUCE) is that less than one-third of students graduate on time. This "reality" is not random. The countless foundational (general education) subjects and several thesis periods have already defeated the dreams of many NUCE students.
Especially the Faculty of Construction Economics & Management at HUCE, a place specializing in training construction economists, urban economists and managers, etc., is always sought after by businesses and the state. However, the obstacles for students to become construction engineers are not just about academics but also about skills and work experience.
With such difficulties, the Economic Engineers Club (EEC) was established. Its guiding principle is to help students achieve high results in their studies. Furthermore, the club regularly organizes competitions, talks, and exchange sessions to enhance students' skills and life experiences.
Introduction to the Economic Engineers Club
1. FORMATION PROCESS
In 2008, the Construction Economics Club (the predecessor of today's Economic Engineers Club) was established with the support, orientation, and guidance of the Faculty.
In 2012, the Faculty introduced a new major, Real Estate Economics and Management. Recognizing that the organizational structure and name were no longer suitable for the participation needs of all students in the Faculty, the Club, with the consent of the Faculty's Management Board and Youth Union, restructured its operations in 2013. It was renamed the "Economic Engineers Club – EEC", operating across three main fields managed by three subcommittees: Construction Economics and Management, Real Estate Economics and Management, and Urban Economics and Management.
By the academic year 2014-2015, due to the specific nature of the major, the Real Estate Economics and Management subcommittee, with the approval of the Faculty's Youth Union, separated from the club and established a new club: the Real Estate Economics & Management Club of Hanoi University of Civil Engineering (REMC). To this day, after nine years since its establishment, one name change, and two organizational restructurings, the Economic Engineers Club continues to operate, train, and strive to become a useful environment for studying, skill development, and networking for students of the Faculty of Construction Economics and Management in particular, and all students of Hanoi University of Civil Engineering in general.
2. Organizational Structure of the Club
| Period | Structure |
| 2008 – 2013 | (Details not provided in the original text, usually simpler structure) |
| From 2014 until now | Includes 6 main functional departments and the Leadership Board |
Currently, the Economic Engineers Club consists of 6 main operating departments: Academic Department, English Department, External Relations Department, Events Department, Internal Relations Department, and Communications Department, with the Leadership Board playing the role of regulating the main activities for these departments.
3. Details and Responsibilities of the Departments within the Economic Engineers Club
3.1. Academic Department
Known as the leading department in academics and scientific research, along with guiding students in foundational and specialized subjects. The Academic Department is a place that gathers many of the Club's most outstanding members with high academic achievements. At the end of each academic semester, the department organizes final exam review sessions to help students who still have many difficulties with their subjects.
3.2. English Department
This is one of the important departments of the Economic Engineers Club. Understanding that English is a popular and common language in future life, the Club has organized talks and basic communication classes to give students a solid foundation for their future career development.
3.3. External Relations Department
Serving as the "bridge" for the Economic Engineers Club (EEC) to connect, cooperate, exchange, network, and assist with lecturers and other clubs in particular, as well as students across HUCE in general. This department is responsible for planning, researching, and regularly holding exchange sessions with other clubs and among the Club's own members.
3.4. Events Department
Students joining this department need imagination, creativity, and constant innovation. By joining the Events Department, students will enhance their personal creativity through the Club's activities. The factor that makes an event or meeting enthusiastically and joyfully received by everyone largely depends on the Events Department.
3.5. Internal Relations Department
This department is the heart of the Economic Engineers Club. Its main goal is to connect the members within the Club – a seemingly simple task, but the members in this department require a heart big enough to harmonize disagreements among everyone. In return, through every story, we learn more about ourselves.
3.6. Communications Department
Considered the "face" of the Club, with the task of promoting the Club's image to students across the entire university. Members here are professionally trained in using photo and video editing tools and in effectively approaching people.
CONCLUSION
Thanks to the assistance of the lecturers, the relentless effort of senior members, and the enthusiasm of the current members, a solid foundation has been built for the Economic Engineers Club to develop to where it is today!
