Construction Management Major, Urban Economics and Management Specialization – Faculty of Economics and Construction Management, NUCE

The Construction Management major, specializing in Urban Economics and Management, under the Faculty of Economics and Construction Management, has been offered since 2001. The scale of training in this major has been gradually increasing due to a growing number of applicants at the National University of Civil Engineering (NUCE) who are interested in this field. The program meets the rising demand for professional managers in construction and urban management at all levels across the country.

1. Career Opportunities After Graduation

Graduates of the Urban Economics and Management specialization can pursue careers in:

  • Government management roles in construction and urban management at ministries and agencies such as: Ministry of Construction, Ministry of Planning and Investment, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Transport, as well as urban management offices under the People’s Committees at provincial, city, district, and commune levels. Responsibilities include developing plans, policies, and legal frameworks in urban management, and overseeing professional activities such as technical infrastructure, urban order, greenery, lighting, waste management, and water supply.

  • Research positions at institutes focused on urban economics and management, such as the Institute of Construction Economics – Ministry of Construction, the Institute of Construction and Urban Economics, and the Vietnam Institute of Economics.

  • Corporate management, bidding, and construction site management at construction enterprises, real estate investment companies, and public utility service providers such as urban environment companies, water supply companies, urban drainage companies, and urban landscaping companies.

  • Consulting roles in investment project planning and analysis, cost estimation, and bidding advisory services at construction investment consulting firms.

  • Project appraisal in commercial banks, insurance companies, and investment funds.

  • Project management at project management boards and construction project investors.

According to program statistics, over 95% of Urban Management graduates from NUCE find employment within the first six months after graduation, with more than 80% working in fields related to their training. The average income for graduates is around 10 million VND per month, with 11% earning between 10–15 million VND per month.
